Research directions:

Basic and applied research in the following fields:

  • Occupational health and safety;
  • Environment protection;
  • Explosions of Combustible Gases/Vapours/ Dust;
  • Explosive and/or toxic atmospheres due to dangerous chemical substances;
  • Civil use explosives.
  • Mining and industrial ventilation;
  • Underground fires and spontaneous combustion;

Security of mineral resources (operating technologies, underground fire fighting technologies, etc);
Classification of underground works in terms of gas emissions;
Preventing and combating emissions and / or gas accumulations;
Preventing and fighting methods for  coal spontaneous combustion;
Design and optimisation of general ventilation network;
Design and optimisation of auxiliary ventilation network;
Design, optimisation and verification  of industrial ventilation system;
Superior capitalisation possibilities of combustible gases from deposits.
Developing research partnerships between institutions as the basis of an effective and appropriate technology transfer;
Developing partnerships between research units and various organizations in order to increase opportunities for technology transfer
Development within the national and international programs in the fields of mining ventilation, methods of prevention and control the mining phenomenon and disasters. 

 

Presentation

The activity in the Department for Safety of  Mineral Resources is included in the achievement of scientific research (basic and applied), technology transfer and other specialized services performed under optimal quality conditions with good results in terms of capitalization possibilities, to ensure and improving occupational health and safety. The aim is to ensure the continuous development of its fields of operation in order to satisfy the high quality level of all requests from business clients, in close agreement with legislative changes produced as a result of the harmonization of national legislation with EU law.
