The Department of Informatics, International and Media Relations – DIRIMM – is an administrative entity within INCD INSEMEX Petroșani, within which the department’s staff carries out their activity in three laboratories:

  • IT Laboratory
  • Computer Simulations Laboratory
  • International Cooperation and Projects Laboratory
  • Public and Media Relations

The Department of Informatics, International and Media Relations operates in the following areas:

  • developing computer applications, in order to improve the research and development activities carried out within the departments;
  • ensuring training of the institute’s staff regarding the operation of installed software applications;
  • engaging in research groups within the departments, in order to address activities involving computer applications;
  • fluid flow – functionality of ventilation installations, transport of liquid matter, behavior in porous environments, accidental releases of toxic/explosive gases, etc.combustion – initiation of combustible mixtures, testing of oxidation reactions, explosions of combustible gas mixtures with oxygen/air, etc.;
  • thermal analyses – overloads applied to electrical cables, heat transfer between different solid, liquid and gaseous bodies, thermal comfort, etc.;
  • fires – analyses of the initiation and development of fires, evacuation of people caught in these events;
  • communication with partners abroad, in order to establish and promote collaborative relationships for the fields of R&D&I activity within INSEMEX departments;
  • identifying calls within European or international research-development-innovation projects;
  • engaging in research teams within departments, in order to address activities involving IT applicationsproposing innovative research topics and developing scientific projects, participating in symposia and conferences.;

IT LABORATORY

  • developing IT applications, in order to improve the research and development activities carried out within the departments;

  • ensuring training of the institute’s staff in terms of operating the installed software applications;

  • maintaining the institute’s presentation website;

  • maintaining the computer network, identifying possibilities for improving information security;

  • administering INSEMEX application servers;

  • engaging in research teams within the departments, in order to address activities involving IT applications;

  • proposing innovative research topics and developing scientific projects, participating in symposia and conferences;

COMPUTER SIMULATIONS

  • fluid flow – functionality of ventilation systems, transport of liquid matter, behavior in porous media, accidental releases of toxic/explosive gases etc. combustion – initiation of combustible mixtures, testing of oxidation reactions, explosions of combustible gas mixtures with oxygen/air etc.;

  • safety and health – scenarios based on the WHAT IF technique, determination of safe or dangerous areas, safety distances etc.;

  • environmental protection – dispersion of polluting gases, effects generated by exhausters, effluent;

  • civilian explosives – testing the behavior of different materials and structures upon detonation of certain quantities of explosive, deformations, ruptures, debris projections etc.;

  • impact testing of housings, protective equipment, structures;

  • thermal analyses – overloads applied to electrical cables, heat transfer between different solid, liquid and gaseous bodies, thermal comfort etc.;

  • deformations under the action of forces, effects of fluids on structures etc;

  • fires – analyses of the initiation and development of fires, evacuation of people caught in these events;

COOPERARE INTERNAȚIONALĂ

  • developing IT applications, in order to improve the research and development activities carried out within the departments;

  • communication with partners abroad, in order to establish and promote collaborative relationships for the fields of R&D activity within the INSEMEX departments;

  • identifying calls within European or international research-development-innovation projects;

  • engaging in research teams within the departments, in order to address activities involving IT applications;
